What bilingual capability actually requires ¶
Bilingual security staff need more than conversational English. They need the vocabulary for access control, emergency procedures, and incident reporting in both languages. Our bilingual guards go through an additional language module in the induction programme that covers these specific contexts. General English ability is a starting point, not the finish line.
The difference in practice ¶
In a Shinjuku commercial building we have worked with since 2019, the previous security provider had no bilingual staff. If you manage a building with international tenants, ask your current security provider directly: how many of your stationed guards can conduct a full access control conversation in English? Ask for a demonstration if you are not sure. If the answer is unsatisfactory, that is worth addressing in your next contract review.
